The olden times of playing split-screen games with your friends, sitting beside them, are long gone. Ever since the PC and Mobile gaming market exploded, console gaming with friends on split-screen has never been the same. The popular FPS franchise, Call of Duty, just added a brand new iteration with Call of Duty Vanguard, but its split-screen feature on Xbox Series X consoles has disappointed the fans. The game mode is unplayable on Series X.

Fans love to play Call of Duty in this game mode, as playing with friends right sitting beside you is a special experience. Unfortunately, these days, playing over the internet, miles apart from your friends, seems to be the norm. With a roster of amazing titles like Warzone, Apex Legends, and more, things have totally changed from what they used to be a decade ago.

Is Split-Screen gaming really dead in 2021? The answer to that question might be yes.

Split Screen of Call of Duty Vanguard is disappointing Xbox Series X users

In a recent subreddit post, Redditor, u/SalernoXbox shined a bright light on the state of the game. He shared a small clip of his experience and dubbed it as “complete trash.” The title offered horrible visuals, frames, and was down-right, unplayable in split-screen mode. This is not a good look for Activision and Xbox as both title and console failed to impress the community.

Other users on the platform also confirmed that the game mode is unplayable on Series X. Neither Activision nor the American gaming giant has offered any update on the matter just yet. It is an earnest request from the members of the community to the developers to save this beloved game mode, which has entertained gamers for over a decade.

Apart from this issue, Vanguard has mostly received positive reviews from the community. Gamers have fallen in love with the map design, single-player campaign, and the overhauled yet horrifying zombies’ survival mode. It seems like Sledgehammer has taken Activision’s hot streak of successful titles to 4 in a row.
