Another one for the books as PlayStation owners get to pilot Call of Duty: Vanguard Alpha this weekend. The Alpha goes live from August 27 to August 29 and will feature Sledgehammer Games’ latest experiment, Champion Hill.
The devs surprise their audience by launching the multiplayer mode with Alpha for all PS4 and PS5 owners ahead of Vanguard’s release. Additionally, testing will not require players to have a PlayStation Plus subscription or preorder.

COD: Vanguard Alpha will be available under the “Main Menu” option if you own any of the franchise’s recent games. The “Alpha” option in the main menu will take you right into the game if downloaded in the console- redirecting you to the PlayStation store otherwise.
Along with the free testing, participants helping the developers to polish the game will receive a Calling Card & an Emblem. These will be accessible in-game after its launch and in Warzone, which paves the way for Vanguard.

What is Champion Hill all about?
The Alpha gives its players a free license into the world of Vanguard. It also provides an option of assuming the role of the operators: Lucas Riggs, Polina Petrova, Wade Jackson, and Arthur Kingsley and wandering in the reactive environments across the four maps.

The latest mode takes its inspiration from other modes in previous games, bringing a whole new format to the Call of Duty series. In this tournament-style, multi-map, and multi-life game mode, things go beyond the arsenal you have, forcing you to make decisions on the go.
In Champion Hill, each team duo or trio starts with the same loadout collecting attachments around the maps. Players can upgrade their weapons with the money they get from eliminating their enemy. Each match will be a round-robin deathmatch against another duo/trio with the objective to eliminate your opponents.
