The ongoing phase for Activision is highly tough, to say the least. Call of Duty franchise is not receiving the same love it used to get a few years ago. Well, there’s a major reason for the current situation of the iconic action saga. The tactics used by the publisher in recent entries have failed to impress hardcore fans of this beloved series. As a result, a lot of players have left engaging themselves in its current installments like Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.
Considering the current circumstances, there have been several individuals who want to give the players the joy of diving into the classic COD entries once again. That’s what SM2 was intended to do until it was recently canceled after Activision forced its developers to stop working on it.

For those who are not aware of it, SM2 was going to be a modded client. Based on the MW2 engine, its makers were set to offer lots of amazing gameplay features to the players, like new weapons, perks, streaks, maps and other QOL changes.
However, the modders working on SM2 were recently told by Activision to shut down the development. The official Twitter account of the project informed the fans about this unexpected update. “Today, a team member received a Cease & Desist letter on behalf of Activision Publishing in relation to the sm² project. We are complying with this order and shutting down all operations permanently.”

As soon as the news spread across the internet, many gaming lovers expressed their frustration towards the Call of Duty publisher. Among those who are disappointed with its decision is also Jev.
The popular YouTuber decided to make a video in order to share his thoughts on this situation. While lashing out at Activision, he said that the people in the company don’t want good content to be available for the players. And that they simply want to force-feed bad experiences to them. “They’re intimidated by it, they’re literally scared. They’re so scared of a little modded client.”
