Since the inception of Battle Royale in the Call of Duty franchise, a debate has been raging over the best map in the history of the Warzone saga. After the launch of Warzone 2, things got more intriguing as the latest installment from Activision introduced another massive region, known as Al Mazrah. It’s currently the biggest map, is undoubtedly huge and boasts to be the second largest Battle Royale map in the history of the franchise. However, there are still many Verdansk lovers out there who believe for it to be the most iconic map.

Some loyal fans of Verdansk have thoroughly enjoyed its experience and want it back. However, their demand may not be deemed possible given the fact that Caldera has replaced the region in the original Warzone. Recently, players’ hopes were reignited after the devs teased exclusive rewards for the Third Anniversary of the first Battle Royale title.

For the uninitiated, the first installment of Warzone was introduced exactly three years ago on March 10, 2020. The same year was plagued by the Covid-19 pandemic. The release of the Battle Royale from Activision turned out to be a breath of fresh air. Especially for those, who were staying at home for an extended duration.

When it comes to why Call of Duty Warzone has piqued the interest of many, the credit has to go to Verdansk. The map first made its appearance in 2019’s rebooted Modern Warfare from Infinity Ward. After that, it was turned into a dedicated BR-sized area.

Such is the popularity of Verdansk that it’s still in the news even three years after the debut of Warzone. Perhaps that is why many fans keep coming with requests to witness the map’s grand return. Recently, Call of Duty devs announced that they will offer free items and rewards “over the coming weeks through the in-game Store that are themed around the maps, seasons, and memories made since its launch on March 10, 2020”.

However, what fans actually want is Verdansk. Seemingly not caring about the free items. According to users on social media, it will be fitting to make this map available once again in the original Warzone. Primarily because that will be the perfect way to celebrate the game’s third anniversary, according to the players. “We just want the best map back”, wrote one individual on Twitter.
