Treyarch’s next installment could take the pages out of 1991’s Gulf War.

While all the eyes are currently set on the official reveal of 2023’s Call of Duty game, there’s a lot going on for the next year’s offering as well. One can say that considering the major leaks revealed in the last few months. Adding to them, now, is footage that was recently shared by a renowned industry insider.

So far, we know that Call of Duty 2024 is being helmed by Black Ops Cold War developer Treyarch Studios. The game from 2020 featured a story based on the Cold War era of the early 1980s. Now the next major entry in this sub-series could follow up on its events by showing the plot from the Gulf War. At least that’s what a mysterious clip suggests. It was posted online by a trusted scooper.

Is Call of Duty 2024 going to be called ‘Black Ops Gulf War’?

Ralphs Valve has earned a reputation for sharing near-accurate intel when it comes to new CoD titles. He was very much right in terms of revealing early information for last year’s Modern Warfare II. For the past few months, he was on a break from Twitter. But recently he made a surprising return with cryptic footage.

The insider posted a clip from the Gulf War, showcasing the action from land to aerial combat. While it may look a like random clip, Ralph is not the one to tweet something meaningless. Of course, the video contains some kind of context if one has to make guesses. Strangely, the scooper has disabled comments on this tweet.

Firstly, the track used in the clip is ‘Movin’ On Up’ by the band Primal Scream. Interestingly, this song was also released in 1991, the same year seemingly depicted in the footage by the insider that features events from the Gulf War. For the uninformed, it was a campaign led by the US after Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait. Other countries also contributed to this war.

Carried out in two phases, the operations were called ‘Desert Shield‘ (military campaign on the ground) and ‘Desert Storm‘ (aerial bombing campaign against Iraq). This war came to an end at the end of February 1991.

If the clip from Ralph is anything to go by, Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War could be Treyarch’s 2024 game. But again, it’s just a speculation as of now. One should take it with a grain of salt unless there comes anything more substantial.
