The recently concluded FTC v. Microsoft case was full of unexpected revelations emerging out publicly. Not to mention that most of the hearing’s focus was on Call of Duty only. That’s obvious as well, given the fact that it’s playing a role in the $68.7 billion deal between the Xbox maker and Activision.

However, there was also another interesting detail revealed during the case which is, again, connected to Call of Duty. Additionally, it’s also directly related to an extremely hyped PS5 exclusive from Sony in 2023. Thanks to this data, now we know which game is the most awaited among the players.

Media outlet IGN recently published an article covering the stance of experts on the high profile case between FTC and Microsoft. Moreover, it also featured a highly significant data from the point of view of video games releasing in 2023.

In the article, there was a survey mentioned that took place last month. It was carried out by the investment bank Jefferies among 1,000 PC and console gamers. The results revealed that 38 percent of the people wanted to play Call of Duty, followed by Fortnite (29 percent) and Minecraft (29 percent).

However, the biggest detail unveiled in this survey was regarding the most anticipated game of 2023. Majority of the players (around 31 percent) were looking forward to the upcoming Call of Duty (rumored to be Modern Warfare III) from Activision. On the other hand, Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is a PlayStation 5 exclusive, came second. About 28 percent of the players were hyped for the sequel to its successful first part that released in 2018.

So what does this result convey? Well one can clearly interpret that despite getting a ton of competition from various IPs, CoD is still popular among most of the video game enthusiasts. So much so, that even an extremely hyped sequel in Spider-Man 2 can’t beat it in terms of the overall buzz among the players.
