Call of Duty has witnessed a good run in the last few months regarding making records. The latest entry in the iconic series, Modern Warfare II, has been nothing less than a juggernaut. It has generated enormous profits for Activision so far. That may be why there have been plans to extend it even further to have a two-year life cycle. Or at least that’s what was projected a few months ago.
Going by a new update shared online from credible sources, it looks like Call of Duty will receive a proper yearly premium release this year. This means that the previous rumors for DLC-based content for Modern Warfare II might not be accurate. Simply put, the situation has become slightly confusing and complicated right now. Not to mention that the majority of the players are not very much interested in what’s going on.

In case anyone missed keeping track of events, many leaks were floating across the internet last year. They suggested that a premium CoD entry will be unveiled in 2023 after the launch of MWII. However, renowned journalist and Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier later refuted such claims. According to him, the term premium refers to the DLC content which will be released for Modern Warfare II. Plus, he also revealed that it would be priced at around $70. All of this indicated that 2023 would be the first year without witnessing a brand new video game in the franchise from Activision.
However, recently, a tweet was shared by the official account of The Game Awards. It mentions that 2023 will have a “full annual premium release” in the Call of Duty series. Moreover, the game is expected to come out this Fall.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty players didn’t seem interested in what was happening. Most fans are not very happy with how Activision plans to take the series forward. They think there will be nothing premium in this year’s offering from the publisher. Because according to them, the current game in Modern Warfare II has been a failure in terms of satisfying them.
“”Premium” is such a cliché buzzword. It also means expect jack shiet. There is nothing “premium” about Call of Duty”, wrote one frustrated user on Twitter.

Activision needs to stop making us pay $70 every year for a new call of duty just keep the same one for a couple years and work on that one and release new content for it
