Call of Duty is known for its cinematic action pieces, drawing comparisons with Hollywood director Michael Bay. However, what really keeps players engrossed in each title is the multiplayer mode. After all, what is better than destroying the enemy team with your superior skill?
The multiplayer mode in CoD would not be what it is without the maps. Nuketown and Shipment are just two names in a list that has etched itself in the hearts of CoD players. However, with Modern Warfare II, there is something about the map system that simply does not sit right with fans.

There continues to be a huge uproar about the map selection system in Call of Duty Modern Warfare II. Fans are upset over the system that forces them to play on maps they do not wish to play on.

The idea is that fans do not want to play a lot of maps on the roster. The current system in Modern Warfare II forces them to do so anyway. If they try to exit the lobby and join another one, they are met with the same issue. As a result, players do not seem to enjoy Multiplayer at all.
The reason why Call of Duty brought this feature in is to make sure all maps receive game time. Developers want to ensure all maps are used, as with voting, only a few maps receive attention due to their popularity.

If CoD keeps this feature up, they might see players gravitate to other game modes. Listening to what the community says is important when it comes to keeping the player base. They saw it with Vanguard, where listening to the base paid off to an extent. While it was not perfectly implemented, it was still a start for fans.
Will Modern Warfare II’s map system stick?
The question players find themselves asking is if this system is here to stay. The franchise will soon see players move to the next installment. And they want a new map system. So players can rejoice because Modern Warfare III looks all set to bring back the map voting system.

What makes players look forward to Modern Warfare III is the maps it will be bringing to the game. Classic maps from Modern Warfare 2 such as Favela are making a comeback to the game. Most importantly, the map coming back to the game is Rust. The iconic 1v1 spot where players would go to duke it out. Nothing beats the feeling of hitting a no-scope while dominating opponents in Rust.

Another map that is coming back is Terminal. Fans might remember this one as the one they started their grind to get the Nuke on. It even had a video of the fastest nuke, later proved fake, with a YouTuber dominating the map.
While the map selection system continues to get a mixed reception, MWIII looks set to be a huge step up. It looks like a good time to be a CoD fan!
