Verdansk was the map that essentially kicked off the Warzone battle royale fever. Released alongside the 2019 reboot of the Modern Warfare series, Verdansk quickly became a fan favorite, as fans spent dozens of hours around the map looking for a win.
However, as we moved deeper into the cycle of the game, Call of Duty chose to drop the map in 2021, and there was a nuke dropped on it. Verdansk’s place was taken by Caldera. However, new speculation indicates Verdansk might just be coming back. While Call of Duty hinted at it in the teaser, the image is the first concrete bit of information fans have to support the theory.
The combined teaser image is a top down view of what appears to be the prison / gulag from Verdansk where Makarov is seemingly being held captive 👀

One user organized pieces of images from the teaser. These formed the image of a gulag. Now, combined with what we know from the teaser, it looks increasingly likely it is the prison Makarov was held in. Additionally, there were bits of footage that showed people running around the stadium in Verdansk. While it might be a reference to the “No Russian” mission, fans hope it will mark a return to Verdansk. However, it is important to remember that all this is just speculation at the moment.
Verdansk’s return, along with Modern Warfare III, might not be on the same scale as Warzone. Instead of a full-blown map, Verdansk might just be a small area featured in the story mode, as we could see some sort of mission that deals with Makarov.

Alternatively, the map could also be a part of the multiplayer mode. A small section of Verdansk, such as the stadium, could come to the multiplayer modes. It will be quite fascinating to see if all the speculation turns out to be true.
