After a long wait and extreme patience, fans have now received major announcement for this year’s Call of Duty. The rumors regarding its title were absolutely right as the game is, indeed, called Modern Warfare III. Moreover, its latest reveal trailer has dropped a shocking update that no one was expecting to see. Especially, the hardcore lovers of the original Warzone from 2020.
Verdansk was, and is still, a beloved map among those who enjoyed the Warzone battle royale three years ago. The map is considered the best one so far by many fans. Sadly, they lost it in 2021 when Caldera was introduced. Since then, there’s been no mention of it by the devs – until now! One can call it a miracle but Modern Warfare III has officially confirmed the return of Verdansk to the franchise. However, there’s more to the picture that what meets the eye.

In case anyone missed it, Activision recently released the first-ever reveal trailer for CoD 2023. It featured none other than the iconic and ruthless villain Makarov. However, apart from focusing on the big bad himself, the trailer also showed something astonishing. The map of Verdansk, in all its glory, ended up making an appearance.
While it wasn’t shown in its entirety, one can easily spot the various parts of the region like the Prison and the Stadium. Interestingly, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III trailer also revealed a scene where innocent civilians can be seen running for their lives. It’s a shot from outside of the Verdansk stadium.
This might be a callback to 2009’s MW2 mission “No Russian”. The latter also had Makarov, who wreaked havoc on innocent people inside an airport. The scene from MWIII indicates that we might witness a similar situation in the upcoming game too.

But what’s interesting to note is that all the glimpses with evidences of Verdansk seem to be related to the Campaign of Modern Warfare III. While it’s not confirmed, one can assume that the map will play a heavy role in the single-player story.

It could very well be added to it though. But again, there’s no official word from Activision on this topic. Just in case if anyone missed it, 2019’s rebooted Modern Warfare had initially introduced Verdansk in the Call of Duty series.
