Call of Duty has witnessed endless transitions ever since it was originally introduced to the world nearly two decades ago. With changing times, Activision’s series has also adapted to a variety of trends. Such as making crossovers with renowned entities from pop culture. In just the last year, fans have seen fictional characters from the Terminator, Rambo, or even Godzilla universe, making their presence felt in the games of this action franchise.
Simply put, Call of Duty has caught up with the growing trend of doing collaborations. In fact, they saw an increase in 2022 with Modern Warfare II, Activision’s latest premium offering. In November last year, fans witnessed an unexpected yet extravagant football-themed event featuring playable Operators based on football icons like Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, and Neymar Jr.
Taking that into consideration, what if the AAA blockbuster crossed paths with characters like Ellie and Joel from a different gaming IP like The Last of Us? After all, they both fit the criteria of perfect and highly skilled top-level operators.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II: A future Operator bundle having Ellie and Joel from The Last of Us will be epic!
Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us saga has gained an enormous fan following in the last decade. The memorable protagonists of this post-apocalyptic series, Ellie and Joel, have amassed an iconic status among the most beloved gaming characters of all time. Such is the impact of them that even after the possible conclusion of the PlayStation series in 2020, it has regained popularity with the recently released live-action TV series adaptation by HBO.
Simply put, the craze for The Last of Us is only going to escalate further in the long run. However, there’s still one more thing the team of Neil Druckmann at Naughty Dog, under Sony, can do to make this series break all kinds of records. Given the fact that Call of Duty is one of the most iconic franchises out there, also consisting of recent crossover streaks with pop culture/entertainment IPs, it makes a lot of sense for these two franchises to come together at some point in the future.
Call of Duty fans love attractive bundles. Especially those having inevitably standout Operators. And if they are from a third-party entertainment series, it always feels like the icing on the cake. Ellie and Joel are solid characters in themselves, possessing all the possible combat skills two individuals can have.
And yes, they are also good at shooting bullets too! Now imagining them in a CoD Multiplayer match will only add to a gamer’s joy. Seriously, it will be a treat to the eyes of those who have grown up playing games under these two franchises.

Witnessing the monster creature from the PlayStation saga in a CoD title will be mind-boggling. In fact, a dedicated Clickers-only event could end up being a huge hit (as an alternative to Zombies). However, this is just a thought for now, unless this crossover becomes a reality for gamers. What do you think about a possible crossover between CoD and The Last of Us?
