Since its anticipated release last year, Call of Duty Modern Warfare II has been in the news for multiple reasons. Despite being a blockbuster release in series history, it has faced many unfavorable situations. Some players have faced issues while diving into this world. Especially when it comes to the Multiplayer modes of the ongoing entry. They have become a subject of debate among the users due to how the devs have treated the paid version.
In the last few months, most people have called out the makers for ignoring Modern Warfare II’s Multiplayer to focus more on Warzone 2 only. This is quite shocking to witness because the latter is a free-to-play game. On the other hand, MWII is the version for which many players have paid from their pockets. Some have even opted for the Vault Edition, thus spending more money than the regular cost. However, the game they paid for has little to offer regarding its Multiplayer setup. And the upcoming Season 2 update is a possible indication of that.

A few days ago, the developing team released an official blog detailing everything coming to MWII in next week’s new season update. The blog mentioned tons of changes and additions to Warzone 2 and its DMZ mode. Sadly, there was nothing meaningful for the Multiplayer experience.
To begin with, four new maps are coming to the title. One of them is a remastered version of a classic map from previous games. Surprisingly, the second map is Valderas which was initially removed from Call of Duty Modern Warfare II upon its release in 2022. Now, it will be back for Season 2. This is not a ‘new’ addition. Hence, the 6v6 MP modes will only receive something crucial regarding fresh, original playable areas.

Then some modes include most of the returning options from past installments. Modern Warfare II will receive modes like Grind, All or Nothing, Gun Game, Infected, Drop Zone, and One in the Chamber. Fans have already witnessed them in older games. Moreover, Hard Core and Ranked Play should have been there in MWII at its debut. But the devs took time to reveal them as part of the Season 2 content.
For those who were hoping to get more weapons in Season 2 will be disappointed as well. Because the next update will introduce only five new weapons. All things considered, there’s little to get hyped for. What has been revealed or confirmed is either a returning feature/mode or a delayed addition.

Modern Warfare II devs could have revealed more original content for the players to make the Multiplayer setup appealing and engaging. Unfortunately, Season 2 won’t do that for them. Hence, it might be the least favorite season among CoD users in franchise history. What are your expectations for the title going forward? Let us know in the comments.
