Just like the old Call of Duty installments, if there’s one thing that can be found commonly in the ongoing title, it’s the Kill Cam feature. While it’s been present since COD 4, the process of adding kill cams has surely changed over the years. And this is very much true in the case of Modern Warfare II as well. Many of the players will actually get shocked to know how the kill cams in the present offering work. Moreover, the process is quite amazing, to say the least.

Twitter user Hunter, who keeps sharing interesting gaming facts and news, recently dropped a video from TikTok on his main account. In the clip, a COD expert can be heard talking about kill cams in Modern Warfare II. And his explanation for how they truly work inside the game will definitely make the general players fascinated, to say the least. Because most of them think everything is like a cakewalk in game development – but that’s not the case. And this clip clearly shows that.

Going by the video, the expert reveals that the process of coding kill cams in Call of Duty Modern Warfare II is “not just a simple screen recording” but an extended, satisfying process.

Instead of recording all the pixels, for all the players, what’s actually recorded by the codes is the input of every player and the data regarding their current position. This results in a reduced cost and also a decreased size of data compared to what a video would weigh. After that, the inputs are then played back “to achieve replay functionality”.

Simply put, when someone sees the final kill cam, they don’t see the exact event, but a perfect re-enactment of all the actions taken by all the users. So this method works flawlessly because of the simple fact: the same input and actions result in the same exact output. That’s what the expert in the video has explained.
