The Call of Duty saga has witnessed a good run in the last few months. Especially when it comes to making records. The latest entry in the iconic series, Modern Warfare II, has been nothing less than a juggernaut. It has turned out to be a profit-making machine for Activision. That’s why there have been rumored plans to extend it even further to have a two-year life cycle. Or at least that’s what was projected a few months ago, in 2022.

Going by recent updates, however, Call of Duty will receive a proper yearly premium title this year. It implies that the previous rumors for DLC-based content for Modern Warfare II were not accurate. Simply put, the situation has become extremely complicated right now. And as expected, this news has left the community divided for various reasons, to say the least.

Some Modern Warfare II players are ready to boycott 2023’s full premium release!

Last year was full of rumors and leaks based on the CoD series’ latest game. While some of them suggested there will be an extension of MWII with a massive DLC, others pointed to a spin-off featuring a famous character. There were also those reports that claimed Activision will churn out a brand-new title itself. However, reputed Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier later refuted such claims. He mentioned that MWII will receive a DLC only. But he emphasized that it will be priced at a similar amount to a full video game due to the size of the content.

But recent reports have once again indicated that 2023 will receive a full premium Call of Duty game whatsoever. And now, hardcore fans of the franchise have seemingly become furious.

Just recently, a player revealed their long post on Reddit while mentioning how the devs have presented an unfinished game in the form of MWII. Moreover, they also criticized the makers for ignoring Multiplayer modes. According to them, the news of a “full premium release this fall is concerning. The fact that it took until halfway through February for anything to be released for this game is ridiculous. On top of this, multiplayer is almost being phased out at this point.” The Redditor has urged all CoD players to “boycott the 2023 release if it doesn’t deliver.”

As soon as they posted their thoughts on the current state of MWII, other users also dropped their reactions. Interestingly, the above post ended up dividing the community. Firstly, there were those who agreed on the point of boycotting the next game due to MWII’s lack of MP content in comparison to a battle royale title like Warzone 2.

Then there were those who had a different opinion altogether. Although they acknowledged the situation, they tried to convey that despite the failure, most of the players will still keep playing Call of Duty’s next title no matter what. And that nothing will change eventually as Activision will manage to earn a lot of money once again.
