Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, Activision’s ongoing offering, consists of numerous lethal weapon options for players who are fond of diversity. And with the arrival of Season 2, the existing collection has extended by a healthy margin. That’s because now the players have got a few more interesting options. For example, the melee weapon category recently received a brand new addition in the form of Dual Kodachis.

Besides other new items like the ISO Hemlock rifle and KV Broadside shotgun, Dual Kodachis are also included in the Season 2 Battle Pass. While the devs praised them in the previous blogs before Season 2’s arrival, the Katanas seem to have delivered on the hype. At least that appears to be the case going by some interesting reactions from MWII players online.

For those who are yet to try out the Japanese Katanas, these are deadly melee weapons introduced in the latest update. Having a longer range than something like a knife, they can quickly move toward enemies. Simply put, they can kill the target in one strike.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II players can unlock them for free. It’s possible by navigating through the Season 2 Battle Pass and reaching Sector B13. Playing more matches in Multiplayer setup and Warzone 2 will grant them tokens. They can be then used to access the Dual Kodachis. The melee weapons can come in handy for close encounters and they can attack the enemies from an unexpected distance as well.

This fact was proven recently in a gameplay video shared by one player on Reddit. The user, known as u/Nawlejj, dropped a clip from Modern Warfare II. They were using the Dual Kodachis in order to check their strength compared to a regular knife. To their surprise, the Katanas ended up killing the target from the same distance that was missed by the knife.

“We did a few tests and each time the Katanas were able to hit for the kill at the same distance that the knife missed. Is this an unintentional buff or a “feature” or the new weapon?” read the description of the video by Nawleji.
