Call of Duty fans have been witnessing some fascinating additions to the ongoing Modern Warfare II entry ever since it was released in 2022. Activision is leaving no stone unturned in making it the best title to date under the franchise. That’s why it has been receiving tons of content. Especially after the arrival of the Season 1 Reloaded patch that was rolled out towards the end of last year.

Last month, a major leak also revealed more good news about the game. Because it indicated a piece of positive news on some of the fan-favorite modes making a return in Modern Warfare II from the older installments. One of them was also the Gunfight mode. It is an extremely popular Multiplayer mode that has been present in various Call of Duty offerings in the past. And the leaked report from January suggested its comeback in 2023. But now, it looks like the players won’t get this mode at all.

Gunfight was initially revealed in 2019’s rebooted Modern Warfare game from Infinity Ward. Apart from many amazing features, the title had this mode as well in its Multiplayer setup. The fast-paced 2v2 format ended up gaining a lot of popularity among the fans. It made its comeback again in 2020’s Black Ops Cold War by Treyarch. However, the mode was absent from the next entry, Vanguard, which arrived a year later. And now, it seems like Gunfight won’t be coming back in Call of Duty Modern Warfare II either. But why?

Recently, media outlet CharlieIntel reportedly confirmed an awaited news on Gunfight. While replying to a user on Twitter, the website mentioned that the Multiplayer mode won’t be returning in this month’s Season 2 update.

Meanwhile, players of the action franchise couldn’t control their frustration on the internet. On Reddit, many of them expressed their disappointment after knowing that their beloved mode will not return in Modern Warfare II. One user posted an image of CharlieIntel’s tweet while reflecting on its response regarding the mode’s future in Season 2.

As soon as other users noticed this post, they didn’t waste a second in sharing their opinions. According to most of the players, CoD devs are making the series worse by removing all the best features that fans want.
