Since its highly awaited launch in 2022, Call of Duty Modern Warfare II has been in the news for numerous reasons. Despite being a record-breaking release for the action saga, many players have given it a lukewarm response. The main reason for that is the lack of engaging content. At least when considering the general consensus from the last month. Hence, the makers are leaving no stone unturned to make it better and outstanding.

Call of Duty will be dropping a new season next week. Previously, the update was expected to launch at the beginning of February. But then, it got pushed by a few more days. Talking about what it will offer, there’s some interesting stuff to get hyped for. Especially for the fans of Modern Warfare II’s Multiplayer setup. With the arrival of Season 2, they will get some unexpected transitions. The upcoming season will probably make the base game worth playing in terms of exploring fresh map areas in different modes; or maybe not. Why?

The developers at Infinity Ward recently dropped a full blog before the official arrival of Season 2. It had all the details about everything coming soon to the latest ‘premium’ installment. While mentioning the changes and additions, they also threw light on the maps arriving specifically for the Multiplayer experience.

To begin with, there is Dome which is made for “fast-paced combat with three main buildings surrounding a central street area.” Without a doubt, it bears a striking resemblance to old Call of Duty maps from previous entries. This redesigned core MP map will serve the 6v6 modes. Next up is the Valderas Museum. Yes, this core map, which was unexpectedly removed upon the launch of Modern Warfare II in 2022, is back once again!

Valderas was present in the open beta phase for MWII last September. But it was later pulled without any specific reason given by the devs. Anyway, it will return with Season 2 next week for 6v6 encounters.

The remaining two maps for Call of Duty Modern Warfare II’s Multiplayer setup are Zaya Observatory and Al Malik International airport. These battle maps will serve the Invasion and Ground War modes, considering their vast sizes. In other words, they are just slightly modified versions of Dome and the classic Terminal from older installments.

Simply put, the four new maps revealed for Season 2 are not exactly new, which is unfortunate to witness considering the fact that the devs had a lot of time to prepare for the new update. Giving map options like these won’t satisfy the majority of the players at all.

Because a lot of them have been asking for original new areas for MWII. Remaking old content and presenting it in an attractive wrap is not always the right move. But it looks like that’s what the fans will get.
