Rank reset is something that happens with every major game having competitive modes. The same is the case with Modern Warfare II as well. Recently, Treyarch Studios (developer of the Ranked Play content) shared crucial information regarding Skill Divisions. The studio revealed that players will receive a rank reset for themselves after Season 3 is launched.

Basically, Call of Duty players will have their current ranking decreased by one division. For example, if someone is Gold, they will now start in the Silver division in the new season.

Under the Seasonal Skill Setback, players who finished between Bronze and Crimson Skill Divisions will now begin their journey in Tier 1. On the other hand, those who finished with Iridescent and above (Top 250) will start in Diamond 1. Fortunately, they will also get the cushion of Demotion Protection for the first few matches in Ranked Play under Season 3.
