In Call Of Duty, SMGs play a huge role. Every team has 2 or 3 SMG players who provide the maximum aggressive support. Subs have a high fire rate, lower damage, and lower range as compared to an AR.

Therefore, SMG roles are divided into two types- the entry fragger and the slayer. Call Of Duty League recently created a video explaining how the League players play SMGs. Watch it to hear from Envoy, Havok, and aBeZy talk about SMG gameplay.

Getting back to the SMG discussion now. The entry fragger is the one who goes for the first blood. He gets in deep and tries to take out enemies from open spots. Such a player has to die a lot.

The enemy team will keep picking them off whenever they spot the rush. Secondly, the slayer role player has to enter closed spaces and clear the rooms. SMGs play the max objective in every map. ARs hold power points that may or may not be near an objective spot.

Thirdly, SMG players control the spawns. They move quickly and rotate the spawns to get their teams closer to the objective spot. In the process, if they pick out 2 or 3 players, that is huge for the team.

In S&Ds though, the speed is in control. SMG players are still expected to get the first shot underway. aBeZy and SIMP are both SMG players with the highest first blood kill on S&D maps.

Overall, all SMG players need to have great map sense, an excellent sense of movement, and should be able to give the best callouts when they die. And as Havok from the Florida Mutineers says, “Play as much as you can to get better.” We believe that even with all the tips and tricks, this is still the most workable advice.
