Ever since the reveal of Call of Duty games, nearly two decades ago, Activision has tried to offer tons of interesting gameplay mechanics to the players. Among them, however, the most interesting one has been the option of slide cancelling in numerous installments released in the past.

Weirdly, the devs ended up getting rid of this feature in recent entries, especially the ongoing game Modern Warfare II. And this is something they shouldn’t have done, according to a popular streamer and expert.

For those who don’t know about it, slide cancelling is a handy tactic used by players to reduce the time it takes to ADS after sliding. In other words, it gives a lot of advantages to an individual who knows how to implement it. If executed perfectly, it can help a player to even win a crunch fight while enabling faster reaction times.

Recently, reputed industry insider and streamer ModernWarzone took to Twitter to share his “hot take” on the absence of slide cancelling in Call of Duty at the moment. “Slide cancelling should’ve never been removed from Call of Duty,” read his tweet.

Moreover, he wrote that devs should have removed the ability to reset tactical sprint instead. But the removal of slide cancelling has been a mistake so far. ModernWarzone tried to explain that the option proved to be just fine as a skill gap in gunfights. The only problem with it was that one had to use a three-key combo every time to perform it. That’s what made it a little frustrating to use. In the CoD expert’s own words, “it was just ridiculous to have to do 24/7 to move efficiently.”

It will be interesting to see if the devs end up bringing slide cancelling again or not going forward. Meanwhile, there’s a new Call of Duty game coming later this year. Rumored to be called Modern Warfare III, it’s expected to offer some amazing options to players who are fans of the classic installments.
