While Call of Duty has had its ups and downs, it seems like the franchise finds itself in a pretty decent spot now. The game is doing well on multiple fronts, especially in terms of viewership with regard to Call of Duty League’s competitive scene. A good game that is enjoyable is bound to attract people to watch the pros, as the tip of the spear and the edge of the blade go against each other.

In honestly surprising news, it looks like COD League has broken records in terms of viewership since it was established in 2020.
Viewers loving Call of Duty League
Following the first Call of Duty Major map where OpTic Texas demolished FaZe Atlanta in an amazing fashion, Activision, the publisher of COD has confirmed that the match attracted a whopping 186,000 viewers. This has been the highest viewer count racked as of yet.
Activision confirms the Call of Duty League Major I viewership peaked at 186,000 viewers, and it had the most viewers out of any Major event since CDL’s start in 2020.

This is quite positive news. After the league’s inception, titles like Vanguard and Black Ops Cold War were released. These titles have done fairly well as well. Vanguard was released in November last year, and while not everyone is satisfied with what the game offers, it’s certainly doing much better than most other games out there.
Considering how thunderous the last match of the league was, this viewership makes sense as well. In order to hype the fans up, OpTic Texas utilized an Icelandic ritual. The Icelandic Football Team made history in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers after qualifying for the world cup.
As a celebration, the Icelandic players performed the famous Skol chant. This chant is believed to be associated with Vikings. And this very chant was performed prior to OpTic Texas vs Atlanta FaZe match.

All in all, maybe things are not as bad for the Call of Duty franchise as we thought.
