The Call of Duty franchise is a mainstay of the modern gaming generation. The seminal FPS has seen incredible success since its heyday back in 2003. With each successive entry ballooning the franchise’s fanbase and market share, It would not be an overstatement to say Call of Duty is one of the most recognizable game IP’s ever created.
However, in recent years, the series has met considerable backlash. From player discontent because of bugs and glitches galore in recent entries to the gameplay feeling redundant with new titles. With a massive community comes the brunt of fan expectations, and it seems Activision is taking massive steps moving forward.

Call of Duty experiences massive changes in the release schedule
In a tweet by CharlieIntel, they announced Activision had finally changed up the release schedule of upcoming CoD titles. The franchise has seen a new iteration every year for more than a decade. While this has helped the series become synonymous with the FPS genre, it has also led to fan disappointment with the quality of the product they were buying each Christmas.
CharlieIntel notes: “Activision will not release a new Call of Dufy game in 2023, delaying it by a year”.
Accordingly, Treyarch’s next title is slated for release in 2024. However, what caused Activision to take the drastic step? As per reporting by Kotaku, the sales of their recent title influenced the decision. This arrangement was decided, “after a recent entry in the series failed to meet expectations, leading some executives to believe that they’re introducing new versions too rapidly.”

Some player have very strong views on the matter.
I don't believe that, they only care about money they will put out unfinished game & plan to make updates in June & to them the game was released in 2024 but you paid for it Nov 2023.Stop supporting Cod until they make better games & get better developers.JUST SAY NO @Activision

Infinity Ward would have to really work magic if they want to win over some of the community.
Fuck I hate Infinity Ward now I have to wait almost 3 years for a good COD game. MWII is going to suck because it will be too similar to MW 2019, the worst COD in history.

People have their hopes pinned on Treyarch’s upcoming title.
It is better for Treyarch in every way if they want to achieve a perfect vision and not be pressured like BO4 and BOCW.
