Nostalgia lovers of the classic Call of Duty titles still prefer to enjoy them no matter what. Despite recent releases, there are many players who try to go back to the installments that released nearly a decade ago. Sadly, not all the platform users have been fortunate enough to experience them lately. Especially, when it comes to the support on older consoles such as the Xbox 360.
Surprisingly, though, there’s been a revival of hits like Modern Warfare 2 on the Xbox 360. The news was revealed recently after the media outlet CharlieIntel noticed a change made by Activision to the classic games on Microsoft’s device. But how did it happen?

In case anyone missed keeping track of events, this week saw the highly awaited decision on the FTC v. Microsoft case. Judge Corley eventually announced a verdict in favor of the Xbox maker. Which means that it’s still hopeful to close the deal with Activision Blizzard.
Meanwhile, media website CharlieIntel recently observed that matchmaking for games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and 3 has been fixed on Xbox 360. The latter is a pretty old product by Microsoft – the company which is trying to acquire CoD publisher Activision for $68.7 billion. While it’s not confirmed, the resurrection of older games on this console could be a result of Microsoft’s recent victory.

Although it still doesn’t own Activision, Microsoft would definitely like all kinds of CoD entries to run properly on its devices. It could be one of the reasons why Activision has now enabled quick matchmaking on classic installments. It becomes quite evident as well after watching the clip shared in the tweet.

Activision has not commented on why this was suddenly fixed. Microsoft does not own Activision yet, so they couldn't have directed this fix yet; but it could be related to the fact that the company that will soon own them would like their old games to be playable.

All things considered, this is a positive update for all the fans who still miss the previously launched Call of Duty titles. Now, they can enjoy them again, just like the old good days. However, it will be interesting to see for how long a device like Xbox 360 will keep enabling the online Multiplayer experience.
