Modern Warfare 2 broke the internet right as fans were finally happy to get their hands on this title. They had anticipated it for years, sending multiple requests to Activision to drop it soon. However, the developers took enough time to craft this masterpiece, as they did not want a single thing to go bad at release. Still, the franchise faced a massive backlash after its servers crashed, with users reporting multiple issues spanned across different platforms.

Activision and Infinity Ward both quickly adhered to the issues, calming the storm at their headquarters. And while they felt that it was done, they once again fell prey to another one in no time. Apparently, the developers had to take down a multiplayer map released in the beta as it became a victim of various speculations.

Devs take down fan-favorite map in Modern Warfare 2

Days before the official release, Activision dropped the Modern Warfare 2 beta for fans. While they limited its access only to a few thousand, they strictly monitored the game, keeping an eye out for the positives and negatives. Interestingly, one of the released maps received a tremendous response as fans enjoyed run-and-gun around this historic route.

However, their smiles faded after the official release as Activision had to take it down over multiple speculations. The museum map looked far similar to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, which became the foundation of this controversy. So, the franchise simply took down the map without any further ado to steer clear of troubled waters.

As of now, Activision has decided to keep mum about the issue as we haven’t seen any official announcement for it. Plus, they are yet to agree/disagree with these speculations, which keeps them hanging like a pendulum. But their silent map takedown acts as a catalyst for fans, as they can easily point out the similarity between the two.

All in all, with no update from either party, it would be unreasonable to conclude as the game has already fared well without it.

Another day, another map

After facing speculations with ‘Museum,’ it looks like the franchise might take down ‘Amsterdam.’ Sadly, the Conservatorium hotel in Amsterdam seems to be filing a complaint against them for using the hotel as an in-game resemblance. Despite a different name, the hotel management feels the idea to be copied and wants Activision to take it down.

But for now, the map still seems to be active, with no updates from either party. Do you think it will be taken down too?
