Moreover, Activision has confirmed in an investors conference that it plans to release a CoD title in the fourth quarter of 2021.
As far as the engine is concerned, rumors suggest the upcoming title will be based on IW8. This is the same engine Infinity Ward used to develop Modern Warfare 2019. The future of Warzone hangs in the balance as nobody has any idea how the upcoming title will integrate Verdansk. Considering Vanguard is going to be set in the 1950s, there will be a conflict in the timeline between the titles.
The studio might explore alternate timelines of different wars, like the Korean war. The Vietnam war is another probability, but we have to wait to find out what is coming.
