Destiny 2 was undoubtedly one of the most popular games in 2017. It provided a classic FPS experience to all fans as they were overjoyed about the game’s release. Interestingly, the game clocked over 292,314 players in the first month, allowing Bungie to sell out a massive number of game copies.

However, as time passed, the franchise saw a sharp decline in its numbers as players walked out of the game. As a result, Bungie could barely cross the 100,000 player mark, with users complaining about no new updates.

Looking at this, the developers decided to add a bunch of updates to bring back the game’s hype, hoping for a bright future. This quickly affected the player base, as more players logged back in. Now, to keep up the pace, Bungie has added another game mode inside Destiny 2 to keep their fans entertained.

Destiny 2 Devs aim to continue the game’s hype with a massive update

On August 5, 2022, popular game journalist Tom Warren put out a tweet mentioning Destiny 2. He pointed to an upcoming massive update for the game as its developers wrote it on their official page. Bungie, the game’s developer, has added a new mode to the game to continue its hype.

With the name “Eruption,” fans will be able to access it in Destiny 2’s, PvP. In that mode, the franchise looks to challenge its players to maintain a kill streak under a specific time. However, the interesting part comes in a bit later, as there is a small catch to it. If a player cannot keep up the killstreak, he will automatically explode and vanish.

Despite Bungie adding this massive update, Tom Warren has quickly pointed out a major similarity. He compared the Eruption mode to Call Of Duty’s “Cranked” mode as it features a similar reaction. Just like in Destiny 2, if a player fails to keep up the killstreak under the time, they explode.

So, despite the massive update having similarities, Bungie will hope to bring back the hype of its most anticipated game. After all, now that Sony has acquired the franchise, the developers will have to focus more on creating better updates/games.

Destiny 2 is available to play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
