Bop-It is a toy that has a place in almost every American’s childhood. Either in a good or a bad. This plastic toy shouts commands to twist it, flick it, and more. It was fun for the whole family and an occasional weapon for the older siblings to show the younger ones, who the boss was. This streamer did exactly the same but against the Elden Ring Bosses.
FromSoftware games have a reputation for being incredibly difficult and unforgiving. While the skill gap gatekeeps a lot of people from dipping their toes into the franchise, it also attracts fanatics who are always up for a challenge and pushing the limits to new heights, in order to wrestle the game to its knees.
Previously, Elden Ring had witnessed MissMikkaa who stunned the world by beating some of the toughest bosses in the game using a Dance Pad. Then came Nico who beat all Souls games without taking a single hit or damage. Now, to add a new chapter to the history, comes streamer Swoop Douglas, who beat the game using a Bop-It!

Streamer uses a children’s toy to beat Demigods in Elden Ring
Using a Bop-It Extreme 2, released in 2002, Douglas downed Golden Gods. This toy featured the original three commands “Pull It!”/”Twist It!”/”Bop It!” alongside the addition of “Flick It!” and “Spin It!”. He configured the toy to act as a controller for the game and stepped into the Lands Between.
“I’ve been playing Souls games for thousands of hours and wanted a fresh/unique challenge for the game and after some brainstorming decided combining it with some childhood nostalgia would be the most fun challenge I could do,” said Douglas. Using a Bop-It as a controller presents a lot of challenges. Among them, one of the most frustrating is the lack of accessibility. Each of the inputs is placed in the far corners of the toy, making it almost impossible to quickly shift from one input to another without lifting one’s hand and repositioning, wasting precise time in between.
“It took a bit getting used to and was almost like re-training muscle memory, but once I got the hang of it, it was surprisingly much easier than I anticipated,” said Douglas after his triumph. According to him, the whole experience, somehow, was much more doable than he had anticipated, and going through it has made him a better player.
