Playstation 2 and the Britney Spears game
PlayStation has collaborated with some major entities in the past, like the creative collaboration with Travis Scott before the release of PS5. This is not the first time Sony did something like this. 20 years ago, Playstation 2 collaborated with one of America’s favorite singers to create a rhythm game. Britney Spears who was in just her twenties was featured in PlayStation’s game ‘Britney’s Dance Beat’.
The game followed a rhythm action mechanism. The players were aspiring backstage dancers who were auditioning for a chance to be part of Britney Spears’s tour. Players had to sync by pressing the key on the controller to the icons coming on the screen radar. Successful attempts will be reflected by the avatar on the screen.
After passing each round, players were given a peek into the backstage footage from Britney’s events. But, the game only featured five of the popstar’s songs. The game was completely oriented around Britney Spears. But still, only limited access to her music in the game disappointed the fans. This hindered the continued popularity and eventually, the game was forgotten.
Apart from this, Britney was also featured in the mobile game Britney Spears: American Dream. The game is available on IOS and Android.
