The year started with a bang as HBO studios dropped the live-action adaptation of Naughty Dog’s renowned game The Last of Us. Ever since the initial announcement, this show had a lot of expectations from the fans. But the creators were confident in their creative decisions and the capabilities of their crew. 

And the end result was an immense success. The Last of Us quickly earned plenty of praise from all over the world. From loyal fans to critics, everyone gave the adaptation highly positive reviews. The adaptation is already deemed the best show of the year, and the notion was made official as the MTV Movie & TV Awards honored the show with its most prestigious award. 

The Last of Us named the “Best Show” at the MTV Movie & TV Awards

MTV’s Movie & TV Awards is an annual live event where the popular entertainment brand honors brilliant works of art in the visual entertainment industry of movies and television. But this year the event had to be held online, and all the guests and winners appeared in pre-recorded videos with their acceptance speeches.  

In the event, The Last of Us bagged not only the “Best Show” award but also “Best Hero” and “Best Duo”. For his performance as the male lead, Pedro Pascal was honored with “Best Hero” and the chemistry between Bella Ramsey and Pedro also earned them the “Best Duo”. Pedro Pascal appeared in a pre-recorded video to share his gratitude on behalf of his team. 

“Thank you, MTV Movie & TV Awards,” Pedro Pascal started his speech. “I am accepting these golden popcorns on behalf of The Last of Us show creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, and our entire amazing cast and crew from the U.S. and Canada, who worked tirelessly and passionately to make this show. They made it a family experience, one of the best experiences of my life,” he further said.

In many instances, Ramsey and Pascal shared that the bond they share on camera is not acting. Both actors have a genuine admiration for each other and love every single moment they get to spend with each other. Even when accepting the award on behalf of Ramsey, Pascal said if they want their “golden popcorns,” they have to come and take them, and that way he will get to see them once again.
