Battlefield 2042 has had a far less than ideal release. Parts of the game were unfinished, and it seemed hard to fathom that this was the work of an AAA developer. The game came under more flak due to the dev team’s inactivity during this holiday season. Andy McNamara took to a Twitter post to appeal to fans to calm down. It wpuld be fair to say that the community had a few strong reactions to his appeal.

Fans react to Battlefield 2042 dev
McNamara’s Tweet has since been deleted. However, images have been posted on the game’s official subreddit. The developer was of the feeling that fans are being a bit too harsh on them. Considering that it is the holiday season that the team deserves slack. He also said that the changes that the users wanted take time to execute.
To add to the frustration of fans, it was not that the game’s team was completely offline on Twitter. However, the content they put out was so out of touch with the community that it was appalling, to say the least. Battlefield 2042 severely lacks content. Adding on, there are multiple glitches that downright break the game. In the midst of all this chaos, the game, out of all the fixes they could inform about, they posted new lore.

While lore is important to a game, it severely shows how the developers do not understand the community’s sentiments at all. Adding on, there is no support planned for the game all the way up until March. Fans were quick to criticize the developer.
As it stands, even after fixes that took place, the game is still not in a good state. Fans are also criticizing the tone-deaf and apathetic sentiment the developers gave. They made the contentious decision of releasing the game in a completely broken state. The developers ignored feedback about the inclusion of operators, essentially making it a hero shooter. All in all, the fans’ criticism seems more than valid.
