A while ago, when Baldur’s Gate hit version 1.0 on Steam, fans asked the developers if they had any plans to launch a physical version of this game. The reply fans received was simple: Currently, there are no plans. This was taken by many fans as a final statement regarding this matter, but this might have changed now.

Baldur’s Gate 3 will be launching in Japan later this year, and the good news is that this game will be launching with a physical edition. Fans who have a PlayStation 5 and really want a physical copy of it for their PlayStation 5 can get it then. The only problem is that it would only be launched in Japan.

It is pretty evident that the game would be released in physical form in very limited numbers. It would not be any different from other Larian games, such as Divinity Original Sin 2. Which is very hard to find nowadays.

It looks like these copies of Baldur’s Gate 3 will also become increasingly rare to find. Here’s hoping this launch comes soon enough, as getting a physical copy of this game is something we would not want to miss out on in any way. After all, getting a collectible copy of such a monumental game is not a bad thing at all!

Why are physical copies of games getting rare?

This year, we have seen a number of games that have not received a physical launch. This has become the norm for Microsoft games. They refuse to launch their games in any physical media form. The biggest example of such a first-party title was Forza Horizon 5.

And the most recent example of such a physical-less game is Starfield. The game is getting some really good reviews all around, but alas, fans would not be able to own a physical copy of it. Even its very expensive Collector’s Edition was missing a disc.
