Nintendo is one of the most versatile gaming franchises in the modern world. They produce games across different genres, catering to millions of fans from various parts of the world.

However, there have been times when Nintendo has messed up big time as the company tried to make rip-offs of top-grossing titles. Their Dance Dance Revolution rip-off can be the best example of this, as it started a controversial debate amongst the community.

Fans had multiple reasons to hate the game, as they did not expect this from the Japanese giant. So, they expressed their feelings on different platforms such as videos, comments, or on social media in general. Out of all, one impression stood out in the community, laying down reasons piece by piece. Jaiden Animation, the popular YouTuber, voiced it as they narrated the story in their recent video.

Fans slam Nintendo for producing a shabby rip-off

There are times when fans barely have a chance to point fingers as companies publish perfect games. However, there are other times when they terribly fail, landing themselves in troubled waters.

Such has been the case for Japanese giant Nintendo as they received tremendous criticism over one of their game series. Starting from the 2000s, the franchise decided to develop its version of Dance Dance Revolution as the game had stormed the markets. And for that, they just randomly placed Mario in absurd moments, which sparked controversy.

It is no secret that DDR is one of the top-grossing games for dance lovers, as it challenges them to show off their skills virtually. But that does not mean they want to use Mario for it, as the character has a far different personality.

This became the start for Nintendo to lose out on their fanbase as fans called quits with the title. Post that, fans also stressed the absurd storyline as it did not match the idea of the game. They claimed that it was more of a survival mission and did not relate anywhere for Mario to show off his dance moves to stay alive.

Another reason why Nintendo failed with DDR was the confusing mechanics of the game. Fans complained about being confused in regards to choosing the correct option, as it wasn’t clear on screen. This led to some players leaving the game halfway, being annoyed with the publishers. Looking at this, Nintendo finally stopped its production, letting Konami handle its business as they were the one true developers of the game.
