Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is one of the most anticipated games of the year. Although players had to wait over a decade for the new movie, it seems like the fans of the video game series will have to wait too. But after waiting for almost a decade, Ubisoft has taken it upon themselves to work on a game that does justice to the franchise.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is the second game in the series that fans have been waiting for since 2009. Ubisoft seems like a perfect fit as they have worked on games like Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed. These titles show their experience with creating beautiful open-world games for players to explore. Taking this into consideration, the studio plans to implement some of the new and successful mechanics that are inspired by the recent Far Cry games.

During a demo of the game, Xbox reporter Danielle Partis had the opportunity to test the game out. The demo helped him get hands-on with the combat, bond with Ikran, and gave him a chance to explore the Western Frontier. The game provides players access to being a part of the Na’vi clan and embraces the resources that are available in nature. Players can unlock the senses that allow them to track down needed materials.

Ubisoft’s popular Far Cry series influences the gameplay, providing players with an open-world experience that blends stealth and action elements. Players have the option to clear RDA outposts by stealthily eliminating enemies or by going in with guns blazing. The player character excels in using both Na’vi and RDA weapons, enabling a wide range of combat approaches. Along with master over the bow and arrow, other forms of inspiration were borrowed from Far Cry.

The game is described as reminiscent of Ubisoft’s Far Cry series, with first-person gameplay, an open world, resource gathering, and the need to take out enemy bases. The setting in Pandora is praised for its beauty, with colorful and lush vegetation, as well as some glow-in-the-dark elements. One of the highlighted missions during the demo was where they had to tame an Ikron. Once tamed, players can fly the Ikron at will, offering a convenient and enjoyable way to explore the game world.
