Activision’s next major Call of Duty game is going to be released later this year. While the hype is strong for the title, it has also attracted some controversy in terms of its overall development and an expected price tag.
A lot of people believe that Modern Warfare III is just a DLC that will still cost them $70 even though it’s not a full game. The latter is a standard amount that one usually pays while buying a newly launched title. However, a recent leak suggests that the price might be much lower.
Will Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III cost just $36 and not $70 for Standard Edition?

Following the official logo reveal for this year’s CoD, Activision leaned into making its marketing campaign successful. The game has been trending on social media these days and it looks like the hype will, once again, go through the roof. That being said, there’s one more reason why MWIII is in the news lately. It is because of a mysterious leak that has popped up on the internet.
Recently, YouTuber and COD expert TheGamingRevolution revealed in a video that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III could arrive with a price tag of $36. This means players won’t have to pay the regular amount of $70 for its Standard Edition. This speculation is based on a leaked screenshot, rumored to be from the Australian Steam store for the upcoming game.
Going by what the YouTuber has revealed, it seems like Modern Warfare III would cost 54.95 Australian dollars. Now it is equivalent to nearly $36 in the United States. Does that imply that this year’s premium release will be the cheapest new CoD ever?

As of now, one has to take this leak with a grain of salt unless pre-orders for MWIII go live. If there’s any truth to this news, it will mean that the next Call of Duty title will be about half the price of what its predecessor is right now – nearly $70. There’s also an interesting theory about the upcoming title. It could be a DLC and that’s why it appears to be less expensive. All things considered, fans will be wondering if this is the bargain it claims to be.
Is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III a good investment?
Although it continues the MW2 story, there are many reasons why the upcoming CoD title can hold its own. Call of Duty games have always been expensive. The $20 price tag on Steam for CoD 2, released in 2005, should paint a clear picture of what the situation is like.

However, even with a $70 dollar price tag, the Multiplayer experience and co-op mode that the upcoming CoD title offers is something that has caught players’ attention. Besides, the title will offer players a completely new Campaign story. The first glimpse of Zombies in the MW series is also something that sets it apart. Although the argument can be made that it is a DLC, what this release offers makes it hard to treat it merely as such.
If the $70 price tag gets halved, it’s safe to say that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be a great investment. The fact that players will be allowed to bring the content they purchased in MW2 into MW3 further strengthens the argument.
