At Nearly $415 Million, Star Citizen’s Development Budget Outshines Starfield, Bethesda’s Costliest Game to Date

For the past few months, Bethesda‘s Starfield attracted all the media attention almost like a black hole. Furthermore, this craze reached a new peak when Bethesda announced a whopping $200 million budget with a team of 500 talented developers for Starfield. While looking at the budget, fans might think this Xbox exclusive is the most expensive game ever made.

But that is not the case. This is because Cloud Imperium Games’ Star Citizen will soon drop a budget, which might cause heart attacks to many. With the team announcing to cross $100 million extra than Starfield’s total cost and that also before its release, fans can’t stop but roll their eyes in astonishment.

Star Citizen supersedes the budget of Starfield

From Starfield Direct to Starfield’s production cost, everything became the hit topic of the headlines. This continued even after its release on the 6th of September. However, Cloud Imperium Games’ Star Citizen will give hard competition to Bethesda. With no concrete release date, Star Citizen first made its official media appearance in 2011. But the amount of time and hard work, the team has vested for this game deserves a true standing ovation.

However, Star Citizen’s recent Alpha release cost $300m for the developers. Not only that but powered by Amazon Lumberyard and CryEngine, this multiplayer game showed a budget of $415 million total budget in its official release. Certainly, Star Citizen’s cost is $215 million more than Bethesda’s outer space-themed Starfield.

Since the beginning, Cloud Imperium Games thought about a great budget for Star Citizen’s development. They crowdfunded $300 million from various campaigns. Now that the game is still under development, fans expect some more rise in the product cost. Apart from these, some private investors also invested money in its making. Well, all these huge budget news is increasing the expectation from Star Citizen to a great extent. Will the game be able to stand out on that? Lets see!

Star Citizen vs Starfield: Is there a winner yet?

Since both Starfield and Star Citizen are based on space theme, the comparison between them is pretty obvious. And there are reasons because of which the budget the Star Citizen has crossed Bethesda’s recently released GOTY contender title. Recently an youtuber called @Erad*Prime has posted a video comparing both these games from where we can get a glimpse of the features of both the games.

In the video, the user has Praised Star Citizen for its graphics, Flight Model, realistic set up, game art, FPS combat and Hero Zones. However, the user has strongly supported Starfield in terms of gameplay, inclusivity of different body types, game narrative, game universe, 100 star systems, props and so on.
