Assassins Creed is considered the magnum opus of Ubisoft. This critically acclaimed series has also turned out to be a cash cow for the game studio. The series has generated over $200 million in unit sales, making it one of the most popular gaming franchises worldwide. And it looks like Ubisoft is going to milk this cash cow even further, with a string of titles for various platforms announced. AC Mirage, AC Jade, and AC Nexus are a few games that are coming to this series.
But one game that remains a fan-favorite is Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag. This 2013 title took the Brotherhood’s adventures to the seas with a pirate fantasy twist to it. Now looks like Ubisoft is going to jog the memory of the fans and remake this classic title.

According to anonymous sources tracked by Kotaku, there is a remake in the works for Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag. However, the development stage has just recently begun and will take several years to finish. Instead of the original development team at Ubisoft Montreal, the team at Ubisoft Singapore is handling this project’s gameplay in the ocean.
The original gameplay from AC Black Flag focused on one on one battles of ships mostly. With a remake in the works, fans may expect new gameplay aspects to be there in-game. Furthermore, making the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S allows more user base to join the Assassins Creed universe.
The email also revealed that the project is being developed with caution in secret. All developers have to report to the office instead of working remotely for this project. If Ubisoft is investing this many resources in the Assassins Creed IV Black Flag remake, this raises a question for Skull and Bones.
