The idea of playing as a Templar is not too wild. Ubisoft experimented with it once, when they released Assassin’s Creed: Rogue. In the game, players controlled Shay Cormac, an Assassin turned Templar. The story took players through his journey as a Templar, hunting members of his former Brotherhood. Given it was part of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, the game had parts where Shay was an Assassin.
As a result, fans want a spin-off, where players can play solely as a Templar. After all, a recurring theme is Assassins and Templars being two sides of the same coin. Both want to achieve the same goal, only have different methods of going about it.
