Ashley Johnson From ‘The Last of Us’ Wants This Unique Feature From the HBO Show in the Franchise’s Future Game Titles

Though many game adaptions were not able to meet the expectations of the audience, The Last of Us hit the right spots. Not only did it impress the audience, but went on to top the charts in 2023. Based on the popular Naughty Dogs game, the Last of Us narrates the story of Joel and Ellie’s journey.

The series had taken creative liberties as well, which piqued the interest of the audience. One such feature has caught the eye of Ashley Johnson, the voice of Ellie from the game, and she seemed to love this new addition.

The HBO series had some dark clouds surrounding its release. Speculations of it not succeeding were sky-high, but it broke those shackles to become one of the biggest HBO hits. Many aspects contributed to this massive success. The acting of the cast, the art direction, the setting, the narrative, and many more key factors are included in this. Among them, the creators took some creative liberty to add some more complexity to the story. One of them is regarding the fungus.

That is, in the show, the fungus grows underground as well and it is interconnected for miles. So when a person walks over one, hundreds of infected get woken up. They would know where you are through that link. This aspect has impressed Ashley Johnson. She is the game version of Ellie, and as this aspect is not within the game, it piqued her interest.

This idea was well received by the fans as well. And it seems like Ashley wants this aspect added to a prospective Last of Us game. She is not sure whether this aspect would ever get adapted to a future game, but she really wishes it does.

To fans who think along the same lines, there is a silver lining as well. Neil Druckmann, the mastermind behind the Last of Us had earlier told that the future Last of Us will likely incorporate ideas from the HBO series following its massive success.

And from the recent interviews that were given by Neil, the next project in regard to the popular survival game is its multiplayer mode.

It would be interesting to see this very idea getting incorporated into this version of the game. Though many details about this new version are not out, fans can expect some show-inspired additions to the game.
