The challengers season for Valorant roasters has come to an end. This marks the preparations for the next, but this time major Esports organizations have decided to mold the rules. Besides the gaming fans wanting to have more of the game post-season end, they have decided to drop the Valorant Challengers Rosters.
The news hasn’t been received well by the gaming community. The collective decision of labels like TSM, FaZe Clan, and G2 Esports faced severe backlash from the Valorant fan base. Joining the criticism club, the popular streamer Jeremy Wang aka Disguised Toast made bold statements against the core intention of the move. Disguised Toast raised serious questions about the labels compromising the game’s competitive ecosystem.

Disguised Toast’s team had qualified for the Challengers League on the first attempt after signing with a North American roster. The latter didn’t have an ideal run with the challengers and had to relegate the team soon. Even though they had a poor streak season, the latter was confident to come back stronger the next time. Surprisingly for the Valorant Pro, organizations decided to shuffle the ecosystem with a controversial move. The organization made the call for dropping all the challenger rosters for the game just after the season ended.

While few of the analytics suggest the teams wanted some cost cuttings for an improved next season, Disguised Toast wasn’t pleased. In his game changers’ Twitch stream on the 26th of July, the creator openly questioned the intention of all the organizations. “Are you really supporting the scene if you just drop your whole roster? FaZe did it, G2 did it, TSM did it… Give the spot to an org that actually wants to be there! The players worked for that”, he quoted. He later went on to call the decision ‘weird’

Also, there hasn’t been any official confirmation on NA Challengers’ intention to return the next season. The mystery around the move adds to more disappointing speculations for the streamer.
Valorant is Riot Games’ most celebrated game. It has been a fan-favorite source of entertainment for exciting competitions. Although with such a move, it will be exciting to see how the competitive ecosystem of Valorant unfolds further. In any case, gamers wouldn’t want the Challengers’ culture to end in such an obnoxious way.
