“Are We Dating?” – “Friend” of Pokimane Finally Pops The Question, Her Reaction Shocks Fans

Streamers and their fans have always shared a close relationship. The whole industry of streaming content revolves around the connection that the viewers share with the streamer. At the surface, this exchange may seem unharming but the parasocial relationship has its own costs and Streamers like Pokimane are very much aware of it.

That is why for the longest time Imane Anys had kept her personal life separate from her online presence. But there were instances where her guard went down and she had to diffuse the situation on the spot. One of the best examples of this was the stream where her “friend” Kevin asked her the big question. 

Is Pokimane dating Kevin?

The individual named Kevin has made many appearances in Poki’s streams. The streamer deems this man of Asian descent a “friend”. But the fans weren’t satisfied with that label. That is why they constantly used to spam the question “are you dating?” in the chats. Things went so far that Poki had to address the situation and stop her collaborations with him.

But Kevin had some role in making the situation awkward as there was a time that he asked a question on her stream that made her feel very uncomfortable. As the chat was spamming the cliche question after seeing Kevin on her stream, he jokingly asked Poki, “are we dating?”.

It didn’t take her long to realize that there was no right answer to this question. As soon as Kevin asked her the question, she looked visibly confused. She took some while to reply and defuse the situation as well as she could. Poki made a defense by comparing her situation to kids in elementary schools. 

She said that she feels like a kid in the day school hanging out with her friends and all of a sudden, “a reporter came and forcibly asked who your crush is.” This was a clear reference to her fans and viewers as they act in the same way and always desperately ask for answers about her personal life. 

Why doesn’t Poki ever talk about her dating life?

In her career as an online influencer, Poki has witnessed a lot of ups and downs. But one thing that has been constant is the support from her fans. And many times she has expressed her gratitude to them but still, she refuses to share her personal life with them as it will severely risk her personal life and privacy.

And about her dating life she said, “If I start clarifying certain assumptions involving me and other people, it kind of narrows down who I might see or might not. So, you’ll never know because I will never confirm or deny anything.”
