With Season 9 of Apex Legends right around the corner, Respawn Entertainment has released the latest episode of the Stories from the Outlands series. Titled ‘Northstar’, the cinematic shows us Kairi Imahara aka Valkyrie joining as the new Season 9 character and establishes a prominent link between the Apex Games and the Titanfall 2 universe.
The eight-minute-long trailer will fill Titanfall fans with nostalgia while putting the new character’s backstory and journey on the center stage. We find out that Valkyrie is the daughter of Viper, a member of the Apex Predators and pilot of a Northstar-class Titan who fell victim to Titanfall 2 protagonist Jack Cooper.

In the animated short, Valkyrie hunts down Kuben Blisk, founder of the mercenary Predators and the Apex Games. Blaming Blisk for her father’s fate, Kairi reveals her desire for vengeance. However, Blisk is able to talk himself out of the situation stating that Viper knew what he signed up for and wanted his daughter’s legacy to better than his.
Presenting herself as Valkyrie, Kairi ultimately settles for a spot in the Outlands’ bloodsport competition, the Apex Games. ‘Northstar’ is one of the best lore episodes from Respawn yet and does an incredible job of tying up the Titanfall narrative with Apex Legends in the run-up to Season 9.

Respawn’s description says, “An infestation has sprung loose, strangling the city with roots and natural growths“. As a result, fans can look forward to a makeover of the Olympus landscape, potentially giving rise to new POIs.
