The Apex Legends community recently noticed a large uptick in complaints regarding players losing all their progression in the game. Users took to social platforms to bring to attention that their account progress was reset. This caused them to lose all their badges, stat trackers, and Battle Pass levels.
While the issue seemed rare at first, it turned out more common than expected as incrementally similar reports poured in. There also appeared to be another scenario as some others noted their cosmetics and heirlooms went missing because of a glitch related to their email and EA account.

Troublesome Apex Legends bugs cause players to lose account progress, skins, and heirlooms
With the complaints garnering enough attention, Respawn Entertainment took to Twitter to inform affected players they were investigating the matter. Assuring to report back with updates, they provided insight into two separate bugs causing the discrepancies with account progress.
We're investigating reports of some @playapex players losing unlocks after changing the email associated with their EA account.

The glitch causing players to lose their unlocked items seemed to be related to changing the email associated with their EA account. On the other hand, a similar bug affected the account progress of players on PlayStation consoles.
In a follow-up tweet, Respawn clarified that both these issues are separate and don’t seem to be connected with each other.
To clarify: The PS4 account progress bug is a similar but separate issue, and doesn't appear to be connected to the email/account-linking issue. We're looking into it!

But now, the developers have finished troubleshooting the issues and have come up with a solution for them.

Respawn have resolved the progression issues for PlayStation players
Earlier today, Respawn informed they have “identified an issue with a database shard”. Based on their findings, they believe this database malfunction was “contributing to the recent progression issues for PlayStation players.”
We've identified an issue with a database shard which we believe has been contributing to the recent progression issues for PlayStation players. We will be migrating players off this shard which may result in disconnects.

The fix involves migrating players off this faulty chunk of the database and it may lead to server disconnects. However, the good news is that affected users will have all their progress and data restored to a previous backup.
“For players whose data was on the affected database shard, we will be restoring their progress to a backup from April 5 at 18:00 UTC.”
