But as the franchise progressed, the gameplay shifted a lot with each installment. With the release of Origins and Valhalla, the gameplay model changed more into an open-world action adventure. Unlike its predecessors, like Brotherhood or Revelations, which were much more linear and stealth-based.
Though fans loved the open-world aspects, they missed the traditional formula. That is why Ubisoft decided to give a tribute to the older title with their new game, Assassin’s Creed: Mirage.
The gameplay of Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Initially, the game was supposed to be a spinoff of Valhalla, but during the development phase, Ubisoft decided to turn it into a full-fledged game. Just like Rogue, which was supposed to be a spinoff of the Black Flag. But even though Mirage started as a spinoff, it promises to deliver a game worthy of being a major installment in the franchise.

Unlike Valhalla or Odyssey, the gameplay of Mirage is set to be more linear, like Revelations and Rogue. Allegedly, the map will also be a little smaller and more compact than the recent titles. This results in a much cheaper price tag for the game, making it more affordable. The basic version will only cost $50 and the deluxe version with extra features will be available on the day of release.
What can players expect?
The map may be a little smaller compared to the previous titles, but it makes it up in other aspects. As the game is based in Baghdad Circa 850, the architecture of the middle eastern gives more opportunity for parkour and stealth-based combat and traveling. The Compact map is filled with details and features that make it come to life and let the players immerse in the daily bustles of life in old Baghdad.

The protagonist Basim is said to be one of the fastest and stealthiest assassins in the franchise. This promises that the players can expect a character who is much more reliant on his speed and parkour skills than his strength, just like the legendary Assassin Ezio. According to the trailer, one shot kills with the wrist blades are back, with chain kills. The player will get access to an arsenal of gadgets including smoke bombs, traps, and more.
