Nintendo removed a bunch of bugs with the 2.0.4 update in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It also got rid of a bug where players could see their villagers with no clothing item in the expansion pack. However, users have discovered that developers also added a minor feature with the recent update.
The recent change is related to Gyroids, which is a new decorative item loved by most players. Before the 2.0.4 update, it was very hard to collect Gyroid fragments in New Horizons. Interestingly, there’s now a new way to collect fragments in ACNH.

New Way to collect Gyroids in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Before the recent update, players could only collect Gyroids by digging them off the ground. They have to visit mystery islands on Kapp’n’s boat. They can only travel once per day and it will cost them 1,000 Nook Mile Tickets. Therefore, users have to always carry a shovel with them to dig the item.
Interestingly, most of the time, you would end up digging fossils and other items. However, it’s guaranteed that you will get at least one Gyroid fragment from the mystery island. Although you can get one Gyroid fragment per day, several players complained that the limit of collecting Gyroid fragments is quite low.
Therefore, Nintendo added another way to collect fragments in ACNH. After you update New Horizons to 2.0.4 update, you will notice Gyroid fragments on the shore of your island. The fragment will continue to wash up on your beaches or shores similar to star fragments.

Indeed, it’s a great addition as only getting one Gyroid fragment per day makes it harder for players to build their entire Gyroid collection. Thus, they can now collect up to four Gyroid fragments per day after a rainy day. Nintendo has not confirmed whether Gyroid fragments will wash up on players’ beaches every day. However, some users are claiming that they will appear on shores each day.
