October is one of the most beloved months in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons community. It’s mainly because of all the events and seasonal changes that make users feel more excited. Moreover, one of the most iconic events, the Halloween event, will return to ACNH in October.

However, the Halloween event requires players to put in a little bit of work beforehand. Luckily, the event will launch on October 31, giving them a lot of time to prepare for the event. Here’s how you need to style your daily routine to start your preparations before the event goes live.

Early preparations for Halloween event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Halloween Candy

Candy is one of the most important items for the entire Halloween event. It’s mainly because you need tons of candies to trade them with your villagers and Jack them for amazing items. You can buy Candy for 120 bells throughout October at Nook’s Cranny.

Unfortunately, you can only purchase one candy per day; therefore, you should start buying them from day one. Regardless, there are other ways to purchase candies, so you don’t have to work too much.

Halloween costumes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Customizing their avatar is one of the favorite things for players to do in New Horizons. Interestingly, you can purchase a new set of Halloween-themed clothing items from Able Sisters and Spooky accessories from Kicks’ Shop.

From October 1, Nintendo will stock various clothing items for users to purchase from Able Sisters. These include Flashy Animal Costume, Mage’s Dress, Magic-Academy Robe, Raggedy Outfit, Flashy Pointy-Ear Animal Hat, Flashy Round-Ear Animal Hat, Impish Horns, Mage’s Striped Hat, Magic-Academy Hood, Horizontal-Striped Tights, Flashy Animal Boots, Mage’s Boots, and Animal Nose.

All of them have 6 different variants except the Animal Nose item, which has only one variant. In addition to that, Kicks’ Shop will provide some exceptional accessories, including Impish Wings (6 Variations) which is a must-have Halloween item.

Body Paint

Players can buy a variety of Body Paint and Eye color options from Resident Services. If you are a beginner, you might not know that these items give you access to new eye colors and body paint options whenever you want.

Many players like to spend their Nook Miles to customize their avatars in different colors to vibe with the event. In case you are short of Nook Miles, it would be best to save them up and join others on Halloween.

Pumpkins

Halloween is incomplete without pumpkins in real life as well as in New Horizons. Pumpkins are an important part of the Halloween event and it would be best if you started harvesting them on your island.

They are required to craft items from the Spooky series, including Spooky Standing Lamp, Spooky Carriage, Spooky Scarecrow, and much more. You will only need orange pumpkins to craft a base set of Spooky items; however other variants of pumpkins will be required to customize these items.

Items and Recipes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

It’s always best to prepare in advance to decorate your island based on the Halloween theme. Luckily, Halloween items and some DIY recipes can already be obtained. From October 1, Nook’s Cranny will include one seasonal spotlight item from the Spooky series for you to purchase. It means you can obtain them without getting worried about crafting them beforehand.

Furthermore, certain Spooky DIY recipes can be obtained from your villagers when you see them crafting inside their homes. You can encounter three villagers crafting per day with a gap of three hours, respectively. Moreover, veterans can get their hands on three new items compared to last year.
