Just like last year, the roster of events and festivals in Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be shuffled for 2022 as well. Nintendo makes these annual changes to keep things interesting as the gaming studio received backlash for failing to add original things. The majority of 2021 saw the title rinse and repeat old content, which was once already added to the game in 2020.

This repetitive nature of the festivals and events killed any excitement fans had. Hopefully 2022 will not follow the same suit. The release of the promising 2.0 patch brought forward much-needed relief, and it looks like this year gamers will get to experience new things.

Key changes to festivals of Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Every single year, the island welcomes the beautiful dancing peacock ‘Pave’ onto the island. He usually brings along a special festival that will compel players to run around the map in pursuit of feathers and other items. However, there will be a key change in this event’s timing as compared to most years. Gamers won’t be able to experience this festival until the end of this month.

This will roughly translate to spring for the festival instead of it taking place in winter. Gamers can expect Pave to arrive on their islands on February 28th, which will give you two weeks more to prepare than his usual arrival time.

Moreover, the studio has also made time travel right up till 2060 very lucrative by enabling important events like Halloween, Fireworks day, and so on. Gamers can now freely use the time travel to visit these festivals, which certainly allows you to do more things in the game. Removal of time locks from these events is a welcome change, one that fans will definitely appreciate.

Lastly, a minor change has been added to various special festival items that have received changes to their names, and it includes their variations as well. These changes will not impact these items aesthetically, but instead, it will only tweak their names.
