While Animal Crossing: New Horizons might not be getting regular free content updates anymore, the game does receive patches which bring new items each month. Every month, we can see an array of new fish, sea creatures, and bugs becoming available in the game. However, this depends quite much on your hemispheres.

Sometimes, it may happen so only one hemisphere might get a certain amount of new critters while players in other locations may have different events. For example, in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the Yellow Perch first appeared in the southern hemisphere in April 2022, and players may still catch it in July. Active months for any critter may be viewed on the NookPhone in the Critterpedia.
