Animal Crossing New Horizons players love creating custom designs. This is evident as within the game’s first year of release players have run amok with custom designs. As a result, Nintendo has added 50 additional custom design slots to both the Normal and Pro Custom Design modes with the first anniversary-themed update.
Additionally, the custom designs app on the Nook Phone received an update. The app now provides a more robust set of features, allowing for the customization of umbrellas, small flags, uchiwa, and photo stands.
Lastly, you can now add the Custom Design Portal found in the Able Sisters store directly to your in-game NookPhone app. This will allow you to whip up new designs as a when you please.

The umbrella illusions you can create using the design editor on Animal Crossing New Horizons
Players have made use of the custom designs on umbrellas to create the illusion that they are something else. The custom design pro editor+ can be purchased from Nook services for 2000 bells. Following this, you can begin to create custom umbrella designs.
Some creators have already begun using this feature to showcase unique illusions. These include animal tents, aquariums, and even a game cube. Once you have designed the umbrella, you need to rotate it in such a way that the umbrella handle cannot be seen. As a result, the outer canopy of the umbrella appears rectangular, creating the illusion.
With Sanrio character’s coming to Animal Crossing in a few days, players have decorated their island with themed umbrellas in anticipation of the same. In a blog post regarding the update, Nintendo announced,

“Starting March 26, the Animal Crossing Sanrio Collaboration Pack will be available for purchase at Target stores across the U.S. at a suggested retail price of $5.99.
