Despite its awesome virtual world, however, there are several things that Nintendo needs to work on inside Animal Crossing. Especially the issues faced by the players when trying to make the simplest of changes. For example, updating one’s character name is so difficult in the Switch exclusive. To be precise, it’s next to impossible and there’s no explanation as to why Nintendo hasn’t offered a solution so far.
But the players need not worry anymore as one hardcore user of ACNH has found out the best possible way to update the name of one’s villager. And yes, this trick works very well, to say the least.
Here’s how to change a Villager’s name in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Popular Nintendo player and YouTuber, ceomg, recently uploaded a video on her channel. It was basically focused on the problem of not being able to update the Villager’s name. Bringing a great news for other players, she mentioned the entire process of how it’s actually possible to make it happen without restarting the game itself.

Firstly, she told about a program called NHSE (New Horizons Save Editor). It feels like a total bliss for the Animal Crossing players. With its help, they can change the Player Name, along with Tower Name, Wallet and many other things.
Coming back to the topic of changing the name, then according to ceomg, Nintendo players just need to type in their new name in the box shown in the NHSE. But they need to make sure that it should not exceed the limit of ten characters.

Showing a demo of her own account, the YouTuber goes on to update her player name and successfully manages to do so. After getting back to her Home Island, following some minor issues, her refreshed name gets updated in Animal Crossing. It clearly shows up on her Villager’s passport as well.

Now another thing to remember is that players can only change their in-game names with the help of a modded Nintendo Switch. Going by ceomg’s experience, it’s not at all harmful in any way to mod one’s console. Hence, interested users can do that without being cautious in case they are really passionate about exploring the online simulation title in a new way.
