Nintendo has developed Animal Crossing: New Horizons to overshadow other titles in the Animal Crossing franchise. All the hard work of developers paid off when New Horizons came to the top on UK physical charts for multiple items. Furthermore, Nintendo brought many features from previous titles with a slight improvement to ACNH.
Arguably, villagers are one of the most adorable parts of New Horizons. Many villagers have been a part of the Animal Crossing series for a long time, like Isabelle and Tom Nook. Several players like to spend time with them and hence, Nintendo decided to introduce them as island residents.
Currently, you can have 10 villagers as a part of your island residents. The seats are not permanent and you can even kick some villagers out if you like later. However, since the ACNH’s release, there are only 10 seats available and even after constant user demand, Nintendo doesn’t take any action regarding it. Here’s a possible justification why Nintendo only likes to stick up to the logic of having 10 residents in the game.

Why Nintendo doesn’t increase the residents’ slots in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Screenrant recently came up with a theory where it explained why there are a limited number of residents in New Horizons. The major reason that there are limited slots is that there is a limited amount of space the islands provide. All the villagers who come to your island also need a certain space to place their house and furnishers.
Nintendo kept in mind that villagers’ houses are not the only building in the game. There are Town Hall, Resident Services, the Able Sisters, and much more. By adding over 10 villagers’ houses it would make the entire island crowded. This would ruin the entire island’s aesthetics as most players would focus on getting as many villagers as they can and not focusing on decorating their island.

Furthermore, there are a total of eight different types of personalities of the villagers, and, owing to their personality, each villager offers a different DIY recipe. With the help of these DIY recipes, you can decorate your island in a more unique way.

Therefore, by limiting the number of villagers, players will be able to focus on the initial goal of the game that is decorating the island. Are you satisfied that Nintendo only lets players have 10 villagers in ACNH? Let us know in the comments down below.
